First Aid, CPR, & AED Course

This course is divided into two sessions:
3 Hours Online Portion via HSI Online Portal
3 Hours Session Sunday April 19th 6pm-9pm @ Hillel Conference Room
After completing both sessions the participant will receive their First Aid, CPR, & AED (All Ages) Certification from the American Safety & Health Institute
The Online Portion will cover how to:
Recognize and Respond to Emergencies
Maintain Scene Safety
Give care until Emergency Medical Services arrive
Check a Responsive or Unresponsive Person
Identify a Heart Attack and other Cardiac Emergencies
Give CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation; Cardio = Heart, Pulmo = Lungs / Breathing)
Use an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator;
De = Undoing, Fibrillation = Possibly Fatal Movement of Heart Muscle)
Recognize and Help Choking Victims
Treat for Shock
Recognize and Help People with Breathing Emergencies like Asthma
Treat Anaphylaxis (Dangerous Allergic Reaction; An = Without, Phylaxis = Protection)
Treat Diabetic Emergencies
Recognize and Help People with Seizures, Signs of Stroke, Bleeding, and Burns
Care for People with Muscle, Bone, and Joint Injuries and Head, Neck, or Spinal Injuries
Treat Heat-Related or Cold-Related Illnesses
The In-Person Skills will cover:
Glove Donning & Doffing
Responding to a Responsive and Unresponsive Person
CPR - Quality Compressions
CPR - Rescue Breaths with Breathing Barrier
AED - Setting up, Putting on, and Using an AED
Choking Prevention & Intervention - Back Blows & Abdominal Thrusts
Bleeding Control
Epinephrine Auto Injector & EpiPen Use
